aggron are known for being fiercely territorial, but what happens to their territory when they become too old to maintain it? it gets passed on to their offspring! aggron put all stock in the future on their children, so they raise them to be brave and strong! this one is a father with his son :>

corny omg

oh god

Like if I were the lead programmer of a triple-A project I worked on (which is literally entirely possible) and we released a buggy piece of shit like what, say, the entirety of EA’s subdivisions would do, and I saw you defending my very own game by accusing the other party of being ‘entitled’

I would personally slap you in the face, explain to you how much of a royal horrible clusterfuck my project was, and tell you to get some fucking standards

Like I want to be totally clear here

A program has a feature list.

If a feature in the feature list is not implemented and relatively bug-free then your program is incomplete

Independent developers release games that meet their full feature lists all the time and charge half of what AAA studios like Actiblizzion and EA do, which maybe 5 or 10% of the budget.

you have absolutely no integrity as a consumer left if you believe that it is excusable for companies with billions of dollars and influence above what small five-man teams with a basement and some toolkits to release products that are not feature complete, and expect you to pay anywhere from $50-$80 for those products. saying people who want, by definition, finished products from these extremely large and rich corporations who get free reign to be active destructive forces to the industry are somehow wrong, immoral, or childish is fucking right out

also as an actual fucking game developer (who does actual programming) I find the notion of people wanting finished products being ‘entitled nerds’ to be fucking absurd

the only person being ‘entitled’ in this business relationship is the fucking publisher, who strangled the developer into a deadline they can’t meet and forced them to release a product that literally wasn’t done

also minecraft really blurred the line between “selling an unfinished product” and “buying access to early betas” and not in a good way

why minecraft?

Bioware was doing it since the 1990s

reason #421 I hate apple

a mac store will charge you $600 to buy and install a motherboard

any other computer expert would charge you $200 tops

now, the ‘CASUAL SCUM’ don’t like asymmetrical, inconsistent design

they don’t want to do bizarre problem solving exercises or fit things together weirdly. they want to put slot a into slot b and have it work and make sense.

this is why all ‘well designed’ modern games have very simple and specific interactions. shoot man to win. press the button at the marked point to jump over the ledge, etc. if these interactions don’t work as expected, the game is broken

minecraft is actually an exception here. minecraft is like the most fuckin popular casual game known to man and it’s completely unfair, makes minimal sense, and has all sorts of obscure fucking interactions you have to look up in a guide. for all the things I dislike about it (I don’t find it particularly compelling) I think there’s something tucked away in minecraft that makes it ‘accessible’ without being predictable or symmetrical, but I’m not notch and not interested in being him so that’s a mystery for someone else to solve
